2023 Check-In

It’s the last day of 2023 and I’ve neglected my website so I had to get this one in.

In February of this year, I went on a trip back to the motherland, Philippines. My cousin got married and my family played a big part in the wedding ceremony. After a few days in Manila, our group traveled to El Nido, Palawan, a beautiful, tropical getaway. We soaked up the sun and pruned in the clear ocean water. Our trip concluded with a few nights stay in Taipei, Taiwan. That was the real highlight of the trip for me. Taiwan was amazing – clean streets, friendly people, easy public transportation, unique 7-11’s, and out of this world food and night-markets.

In April, I interviewed for an architecture position at San Francisco Public Works, and despite feeling unprepared and anxious for the interview, I did good enough and was offered the position. In June, I started working for what has felt like a dream job so far. I’ve always wanted to design sports facilities, being a fan of basketball and football, and now I have that opportunity. My studio works with the Park & Rec Department, so our projects include recreation centers and parks. Aside from that, I’ve also helped out with new project types like offices and homeless shelters. Below are some renderings I created for a couple projects I’m working on. I’ve made a bunch of friends and my coworkers are all easy to get along with. I joined the Fantasy Football league at work, and today, I officially won it all! 2023 couldn’t have ended in any better way. I’ll be watching fireworks at midnight tonight to cap it off right.
